Brussels struck a deal with Turkey which would see tens of thousands of refugees who crossed from Syria relocated across Europe.
But Slovak Interior Ministry spokeswoman Michaela Paulenova said: "We will not accept any refugees based on the agreement between EU and Turkey that has so far been agreed."
She said the government was prepared to be more lenient with refugees from camps in Greece and Italy, revealing they had made space available and had agreed to take in ten people: a 34-year-old Syrian woman with her two daughters aged six and 11 plus seven other to be chosen at a later time.
