The Guardian koerer naturligvis i deres saedvanlige betonmaoistiske rille og fremmaner Auschwitz, men laes kommentarerne under artiklen for at se, hvordan Danmarks ry og rygte er blevet paavirket af Smykkegate. En typisk kommentar:
Let's get one thing straight - by the time these people get to Denmark they are NOT refugees (as the headline suggests). They're migrants.
And if they arrive in Demark with wealth enough to contribute to their keep, why not? Why on earth should Danish taxpayers pay for their comforts when they can pay at least some of it themselves?
We do this in the UK elderly care industry. People who have no income but assets have to pay for their care. Likewise, "savings" are taken into account in many claims for reduced contribution here, Council Tax for instance.
