WHO og en række forskere gør opmærksom på Toxoplasma og opfordrer til at offentligheden informeres:
WHO 15/11-2016: "Greater awareness needed around Toxoplasmosis" "More awareness is needed in Europe about the risk factors for infection of Toxoplasma gondii, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)."
I artiklen udtaler Professor Maria Vang Johansen fra Københavns Universitet "we must inform the public".
Den 14/11 advarede en forskergruppe i Journal of Expiremental Medicine om at Toxoplasma infektion svækker immunsystemet;
"Unexpectedly, we found that systemic infection with the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii triggers not only a transient increase in activated CD4+ cells but also a persistent decrease in the size of the naive (..) lymphocyte pool."
"Importantly, the resulting quantitative and qualitative deficiency in naive CD4+ T cells leads to an immunocompromised state that both promotes chronic toxoplasma infection and leads to decreased resistance to challenge with an unrelated pathogen."
I nyeste online-udgave af Journal of Clinical Psyciatry fremgår det at Toxoplasma influerer på aggression og selv-skade;
"These data are consistent with previous studies suggesting a relationship between T. gondii and self-directed aggression (ie, suicidal behavior) and further add to the biological complexity of impulsive aggression both from a categorical and a dimensional perspective.
